Discovering Washington's Historic Mines, Volume 1, the West Central Cascade Mountains: This book is a collaborative effort of five of Northwest Underground Explorations' members. Each of the five has mining expertise individually gained, in specific areas of the mountains. Each wrote on their areas of knowledge. The result is a fascinating document and field guide rolled into one. You can learn the history, both technical and annecdotal, as well as be instructed on how to get to the property, and what you can expect to find, or not find, once you reach the place. The mines range from the small, short prospect tunnels, to mines of considerable size and production. The difficulty of reaching each mine is included and range from being able to drive to the portal to having to hike many miles and ascend thousands of feet to reach the property.
